Follow your driver
Waiting for your driver is not really an issue if you know how long you have to wait. For that reason swidg offers the possibility for the driver to share the position with the passengers when the trip starts. The passengers can follow the actual position of their driver on a map in the app.
For this functionality to work properly it is important that the driver sets the start time and arrival time realistically in the trip agreement, see Adjust trip timing and chat.
How does it work?
5 min before the start time of the trip the driver gets a notification that the passengers can follow his/her position (if the location permissions are set to “Allow always” on the smartphone for the swidg app).
The passengers receive a trigger that they can follow the driver, and on the screen of “Today” an orange button appears with “Track your driver”. Pressing this button opens a screen with a map and other information to identify the car of the driver and to call the driver in case of an unforeseen event.
The tracking stops automatically at the arrival time of the trip.
The trip to work and the trip back home are two different trips and the functionality will be active for both.
As driver rest assured, the swidg platform does not build a profile of your trip. Only your last location is temporarily stored on the server and sent as an update to your passengers every few seconds.
